| About New Jersey Non-Profits at the Crossroads and the Nonprofit Congress.
In 2006, the Center for Non-Profits embarked on an ambitious long-term effort with partners across the country to unify and strengthen the non-profit sector. Following the groundbreaking New Jersey Non-Profits at the Crossroads: A Summit for the Future of the Non-Profit Sector, attended by leaders in non-profits, business, government and philanthropy, New Jersey sent 8 delegates to the Nonprofit Congress National Meeting in October 2006 to develop priorities for collective action.
Top Priorities of the 2006 Nonprofit Congress:
- Nonprofit Organizational Effectiveness focusing on Accountability/Best Practices and Leadership
- Advocacy and Grassroots Community Activities
- Public Awareness and Support of the Sector
The Nonprofit Congress, a national, multi-year initiative designed to strengthen the ability of non-profits and their allies to work with media, business, government and civic leaders toward common goals, is an initiative of the National Council of Nonprofit Associations, the network of state and regional nonprofit associations serving over 20,000 non-profits in 41 states and the District of Columbia.
